Grandmaster DeChi Emperado |

Grandmaster Emperado started her training in the 1940s. She has trained with Professor K.S. Chow and received her first rank from Professor Chow. She then continued her training through Sijo Adrian Emerpado, her brother and Co-Founder of the Kajukenbo System. She received her 9th Degree Black Belt and Grandmaster status in the 1990s. She is Chief Administrator for the KSDI or the Kajukenbo Self Defense Institute. She is the next successor and Great Grandmaster for the Kajukenbo System. There are more than 100,000 Practitioners in 52 different countries studying Kajukenbo. |

Soke Takayuki Kubota |

Born in Kumamoto, Japan, Takayuki Kubota began studying martial arts at the age of four under the direction of his father, Denjiro Kubota. Because of his insatiable desire to learn every aspect of the arts, he trained daily and studied several different styles of martial arts. Despite his restrictive scholastic program and grueling training schedules, he managed to complement his martial arts training with additional studies in meditation, history and other non combative aspects of the arts. He distinguished himself by earning advanced instructor ratings in Judo, Aikido, Kendo, Iaido and meditation as well as calligraphy and several other arts. Grand Master Kubota began his teaching career at the age of 14 and it has flourished ever since. At age eighteen he opened his first dojo in Tokyo. He has taught police techniques for over 35 years from simple handcuffing to the world famous baton and Kubotan techniques. He has taught at 34 law enforcement agencies all over the world including the Tokyo and Los Angeles police departments, the FBI and the California Highway patrol.
An American citizen since 1974, Grand Master Kubota devotes much of his time to teaching karate at his school in Glendale, California. Although he is well known for having been an instructor to some of the most prominent members of our society, he is most sincerely interested in the development of karate at all levels and has placed a special emphasis on teaching young people. Respect and discipline are two of the primary concepts stressed in all children's classes resulting in proper growth and the continuation of the art.
In addition to his many other activities, Grand Master Kubota has written several books on the martial arts. His published works include Action Kubotan, The Art of Karate, Gosoku-Ryu Karate, Weapons Kumite and others. He has also produced a number of video tapes on the art. Takayuki Kubota is also an actor who has appeared in over 300 movies, television shows and commercials. The Mechanic, Killer Elite, Blue Thunder, Simon & Simon, Black Rain, Rising Sun and The Hunted are listed among his numerous acting credits. |

Tuhon Gaudiosa Sarno Ruby |

Tuhon Gaudiosa Sarno Ruby, daughter of Takyo Garcia and Teofilla Garcia, was born in Cebu City, Luzon Philippines, in 1944. Tuhon attended Columbian College in Alongapo Sambalas, Philippines. Due to a very hard upbringing and violent assaults in the Philippines, young Gaudiosa began studying martial arts vowing never to be a victim again. After years of studying several styles of martial arts she came to the United States. She is credited by the Consulate General of the Philippines, Alfredo C. Lanuza, for introducing, practicing, and establishing the Philippine Martial Art of Comjuka in the United States.
Tuhon Ruby now resides in El Paso, Texas with her husband Punong Guro Gary Ruby where she founded the Comjuka-Kali Systems and later established the Filipino Martial Arts Hall of Fame. Tuhon and Punong Guro Gary have a daughter and two sons, Miriam, Aaron, and Samuel, respectively. Guro Sammy is the youngest of the three children and has established himself as an accomplished and very proficient practitioner and instructor in Comjuka-Kali Systems and has earned the title as Prince of Comjuka-Kali Systems due to the years of tutelage under his mother, Tuhon Gaudiosa Ruby. |

Grandmaster Kates holds a 10th Degree Black Black in Sa-Gi-Do. He holds Grandmaster rank in Tang-Soo-Do and kickboxing as well as Master ranks in Hapkido, Soo-Bahk-Do, Tae Kwon Do, and Judo. In 1966 he joined the US Marines and was a combat Marine in Vietnam, as well as a military policeman. During this time, he continued his training with the USMC Tae Kwon Do fighting team. After his discharge from the Marines, he continued his training and has trained and worked out with some of the world's greatest Masters and Grandmasters from around the world. Master Severiano Felipe Moreno has had an undying passion for the Martial Arts since the young age of four when he began his training in traditional Japanese Jujitsu and Kodokan Judo. At age 14 he received his First Degree Black Belt in the United States N'doicho Kugo Association under Master Motoaki. This is where he began instructing classes under Thomas Hargous. For first 18 years of his martial career he would submerge himself in the study of Kook Sool Won, Jukado, Aikijukado, Aikido, Tai Chi Chuan, Wing chun Kung Fu, Chinese/American Kenpo and Kajukenbo. Later by the age of 20, would become the Chief Master Instructor of Master Hargous's Aikijukado Association and open his first dojo in chandler AZ. Master Moreno would then start a new chapter in his career by developing a system of martial arts and ultimately forming his own association dedicated to the combative arts. In 2005 Master Moreno was inducted into the Hall of Fame as Arizona's Combative Arts Instructor of the year. Guro Carlito A. Bonjoc, Jr. was born in the Philippines and moved to Stockton California in the United States at age 10 where he began his martial arts studies at this early age. Under the tutelage of his father Grandmaster Carlito Bonjoc Sr., young Carlito was taught his first Filipino martial arts. This was his family's system known as the Cadiz-Lapu Lapu Escrima. This originated in the central Philippines and is based on the double stick movements. Cadiz Lapu-Lapu is very combat effective with or without the use of weapons. As the 4th generation master in the Bonjoc family line, Carlito Jr. teaches Cadiz Lapu-Lapu with major emphasis on the Panontokan (Filipino- kick boxing) and Dumog (Filipino-grappling) portions of the system.
Carlito Sr. taught his son to always be open minded towards other styles. Due to this ideology, Carlito Jr. was introduced to other Filipino masters by his father. One of these masters was Roy Onor. Master Onor taught Carlito the Talawan Largo Mano system. This is a long-range blade art that focuses on fighting multiple attackers.
In 1979 Carlito Jr. was introduced to the distinguished Grandmaster Angel Cabales. With his father's approval, Carlito learned the Cabales Serrada and in June of 1983 Carlito Jr. obtained an advanced degree in Cabales Serrada.. After, Grandmaster Cabales continued to instruct Carlito privately in the finer points of Serrada. Due to this training, Carlito became a very knowledgeable and a highly respected instructor in the Angel Cabales Academy.
In more resent years Guro Carlito was honored by Grandmaster Paul Silva with a master instructor ranking in Silva’s Kenpo Eskrima Kilat Kalis nga Paagi.
Over the years Guro Bonjoc has promoted the MATA SA BAGYO Filipino Martial Arts to achieve international recognition and has become a leading authority in the Filipino martial arts. It is a great honor for Guro Carlito Bonjoc to teach the martial traditions of the Philippines. Through videos, group instruction, seminars and private lessons, Carlito hopes to share this aspect of Filipino culture with all who wish to learn. |

Rueben began his study of the Chinese Martial Arts in 1982. In 1984 he relocated and began to study Tae Kwon Do. In 1988 he decided to forego his participation in the first ever Olympics Tae Kwon Do Exhibition, held in Seoul, Korea despite the fact that he qualified after being awarded two gold medals for forms and fighting at the 1987 Summer Olympic Trials held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Shihan Boban Petkovic began his martial arts training in Judo at the age of 10. After 5 years of training in Judo he began training in Shotokan Karate in Yugoslavia under the direction of an instructor appointed by Kaze Sensei in France. Shihan Petkovic was a professional ice skater performing Yugoslavian folk dance on ice world-wide between the years 1970 and 1974. He was also a semi-pro hockey player. It was during an ice performance tour in Los Angeles in 1974 that he first met Soke Kubota. It was shortly thereafter that he immigrated to the United States and began training under Master Kubota's guidance. He has been training and teaching for Soke Kubota ever since. Shihan Boban is considered one of the best technical fighters ever produced by IKA and he most definitely has the best footwork. A result of Master Kubota's instruction in combination with his natural athletic ability and background. He has won numerous National and International championships in Kumite. Born in 1932, Mr. Ramacher has studied martial arts most of his life. He holds Black Belts in Kenpo Karate under the late great Ed Parker, and his fourth degree Black Belt was awarded to him by Jeff Speakman.. He has trained in various styles of martial arts including Jukado, Serreda Escrima, Danzan Ryu Jujitsu, Gracie Jui-Jitsu and Kendo. He is now training under Grandmaster Jose Bueno in Progressive System of Martial Arts. He was acquainted with Kenpo Master James Mitose prior to 1980 when he was incarcerated in Folsom State Prison, Mr Ramacher was employed there 22 years. In 1981 he went to Korea with the military and studied with Master Chae and tested at the Kukkiwon Headquarters and received his 2nd Dan Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. While in Korea he also studied Hapkido with Master Chae. Eventually moving back to Hawaii, he was able to continue his study in Hapkido and received his 2nd degree Black Belt. Allison is a high honors student at St. Patrick School in Newry, Pennsylvania. She is active in cheerleading, gymnastics, volleyball, and reading competition. She began studying martial arts with Grandmaster T. E. Blackburn in late September, 2003 about a week before her 9th birthday. Allison entered her first competition in kata 26 days later, placing 2nd in that event. Since that time competing up in belt rank and age-class, Allison had not lost a kata competition in her division. She had competed only against black belts since she was 10 and only against black belts 15 and up since she was 11. She has competed in open events against the two-time male AAU TKD 12-15 year national champion and has never lost to him in either sparring or kata. She has won 11 Grand-championship including 5 overall grand-champion events. She has sparred against all comers, male or female and has a sparring record of 95 wins, 6 losses and 1 tie. Three of those losses have been against adult black belts. Given a chance at the age of 10 to study a modern version of Tomosa Bujitsu and receive a junior black belt at 12, Allison chose instead to study the traditional style knowing she would not receive her black belt until she was at least 18. She has pursued the study of traditional classic kata with a dedication few exhibit and has learned 11 of the original Masters Level Japanese/Okinawan kata earning permission to wear hakama and a red gi.
